Bird watching and Central Mongolia tour

Ulaanbaatar city – Kharakorum – Ugii Lake – Orkhon waterfall – Ulaanbaatar city
Mongolia is home to over 400 species of birds. In the desert, you may see the desert warbler, bustard, and saxaul sparrow, as well as sand grouse, finch, and the cinereous vulture (tas). On this tour, you will see the main attraction in the area is the Orkhon waterfall. The waterfall is situated in the historically significant Orkhon Valley. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about 20,000 years ago. Lake Ugii is a wonderful place for bird life.

Trip itinerary
Duration: 10 days/9 nights.
Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel. City tour and first discovered the town by visiting the National Museum of history and the museum of Chinggis Khan. These museums explain to us the history of the country and its religion. Overnight at the hotel in central Ulaanbaatar city. +D

Day 2: After breakfast visit the “Gandan” Buddhist the monastery is the biggest in Mongolia.
Begin the journey to Chinggis Khan Statue.
The equestrian statue of Chinggis Khan was built in 2008 on the occasion of the eight-hundredth anniversary of the foundation of the Mongolian Empire, in honour of its founder, Chinggis Khan. This huge stainless steel statue weighs 250 tons and is 40 metres (131 feet) high; it’s the highest statue representing a man on horseback in the world. It’s located 54 kilometres (33,55 miles) from Ulan Bator, on the banks of the Tuul River, in the place called Tsonjin Boldog.

Day 3: After breakfast continues driving to Hustai National Park.
You will see the wild Takhi- Przewalski horses. They have lived peacefully since 1993 when they were reintroduced to their native land. Here are able to see and photograph these beautiful animals and bird watching. Overnight at the Ger Camp. B+L+D


Day 4: After breakfast continues driving to Kharkhorin – the ancient capital of Mongolia. Visit Erdene Zuu monastery is the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Overnight at the Ger camp. Visit nomadic family and bird watching around the Orkhon river.

Day 5: After breakfast driving to Ugii lake.
Swan Goose, White Spoonbill, and Dalmatian Pelican have been recorded. You will see the beautiful nature on the way; it’s a wonderful place for birdlife – cranes and ducks. Swimming, rest. Overnight at the Tourist ger Camp. B+L+D

Day 6: Continue driving to Orkhon Waterfall. You will enjoy the natural beauty and bird watching. Visit a herders family to see the making of airag (the Mongolian national drink of fermented mare’s milk). Overnight at the Ger camp. B+L+D





Day 7: Free hiking near Orkhon river. Rest on the bank of the river, horse riding, walking, relaxing, and bird watching. Overnight at the tourist Ger camp. B+L+D

Day 8: Early in the morning driving to Bayangobi.
You will see Elsen Tasarhai the part of the Great Mongolian Sand dunes. The scenery is a perfect combination of desert, picturesque mountains, a small river, and green grassland.

Day 9: Driving to Ulaanbaatar. Accommodation at the hotel. Rest. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Departure

- Tourist Ger camp: Shared accommodation in tourist Ger camp (traditional dwelling) has 2 to 4 beds – very interesting and unique Western toilets and hot shower facility is separate block – shared
