The “Naadam” Mongolian National Festival
The “Naadam” Festival consists of Mongolian wrestling, archery, and horse racing, and is the best of the Mongolian festivals. This fantastic “Naadam” Festival tour takes you to Mongolian Great “Naadam” and Mongolian natural and cultural highlights. When you take part in the “Naadam” you will experience the thrill of watching hundreds of racing horses with their remarkable young riders, strong wrestlers performing the “Eagle Dance” and traditionally dressed archers as well as the magnificent “Naadam” Grand Opening Ceremony in the Central Stadium.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: July 08. Arrival In Ulaanbaatar city:
Transfer to the hotel. On the first day of your travels, you will be visiting the Natural History Museum. After Dinner, you have a big chance to enjoy National Folklore Concert and overnight in the hotel. (L+D)
Day 2: July 09. Terelj national park
After breakfast in the hotel, drive to Terelj National park. This is a rocky mountain area in 80 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar city. The area is cool, and its alpine scenery is magnificent. Overnight in Ger camp. (B+L+D)
Day 3: July 10. “Chinggis Khan” monument.
This monumental statue is found in a park several miles east of UB. Chinggis Khan faces to the east overlooking a range of hills said to be the area where he was born. The stainless steel statue itself is 50 meters tall (about 160 feet) and is said to be the largest equestrian statue in the world. The base of the statue holds an auditorium, museum, and gift shop. In addition to the statue, the monumental arch forming the entrance to the park is crowned with statues of the “Nine Generals”. The generals were his field commanders and were chosen on the basis of ability. Some were fellow clansmen but others were from conquered subjects. The eventual plan is to place 10,000 (one of his 10 field armies) life-size statues of warriors in the park and on the surrounding hills. Day 4-5: July 11-July 12
Mongolian National “Naadam” Festival
The opening ceremony of Naadam festival and watch the first round of Wrestling, and then Archery and Ankle bone shooting competitions. On 12 July, we will drive to the horse racing place to experience the “Naadam” Festival horse races. We will also visit the National Museum and see a traditional folk concert by the magical “Tumen Ekh” ensemble. Meals at restaurants and hotel Overnight in hotel. B+L+D
Day 6: July 13 Visit Elsen tasarkhai and Camel and horse ride trial
Drive to the Elsen tasarkhai – Gobi-type area with huge sand dunes in the morning. After lunch transfer to the tourist camp, there is an opportunity for a camel ride trial through the sand dunes. Overnight in a tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Day 7: July 14 Erdene-Zuu, the oldest Monastery
We will visit the Karakorum, which was the capital city of the Great Mongol Empire founded in the 13th century by Chinggis Khan. You will also visit the oldest Monastery Erdene-Zuu built-in 1586, with 108 stupas. Overnight in Ger camp. B+L+D
Day 8: July 15. Drive back from Khar-Khorum city to Ulaanbaatar city. You may choose an optional city tour where you will be taken to souvenir and cashmere shops. A farewell dinner and overnight in the hotel. (B+L+D)
Day 9: July 16. Flight From Ulaanbaatar city B+
